چکیده

Klevated dihydrotestosterone levels have been suggested to increase the risk of prostate cancer. The human SRD5A2 gene encodes the type II steroid 5a-reductase, which converts testosterone to the more bioactive compound dihydrotestosterone. We have determined the distribution of a dinucleotide repeat in low-risk Asian-Americans, high-risk African-Amer icans, and intermediate-risk non-Hispanic Whites. We found this marker to be more polymorphic than previously reported, with some alÃ-elesbeing specific to African-Americans. Genetic variants of the SRD5A2 gene may play a role in predisposition to prostate cancer and in explaining the substantial racial/ethnic variability in risk.

ژنتیک مولکولی، تشخیص، پیشگیری و ژن درمانی در سرطان پروستات:  مقاله مروری

The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder and upper part of the urethra. In developed countries prostate cancer is the second common cancer (after skin cancer), and also the second leading cause of cancer death (after lung cancer) among men. The several studies have been shown prostate cancer familial aggregation. The main reason for this aggregation is inheritance included genes....

Polymorphisms of HPC2/ELAC2 and SRD5A2 (5α-Reductase Type II) Genes in Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the proliferation of malignant cells in the prostate gland. The HPC2/ELAC2 gene on chromosome 17p11.2 and SRD5A2 gene on chromosome 2p22-23 are predisposing genetic factors. We examined the relationship between Ser217Leu and Ala541Thr polymorphisms of the former gene, and Ala49Thr and Val89Leu polymorphisms of the latter gene to prostate cancer in Turkish men, using the polym...

Polymorphism of the SRD5A2 gene and the risk of prostate cancer.

Androgens are actively involved in the development of the prostate gland and appear to be essential for prostate carcinogenesis. The product of the SRD5A2 gene, membrane‑bound steroid 5‑α‑reductase, type II enzyme, is key in testosterone metabolism. The present study explored the association between the SRD5A2 V89L gene polymorphism and the risk of developing prostate cancer. The study cohort c...

The Roles of Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) in Prostate Cancer

Background & Objective: Prostate cancer is a compound condition in which gene expression has altered. Several surveys have revealed that genetic components have been involved in prostate cancer progression. Findings proposed that they can modify a noteworthy portion of disposing of elements, which is associated to the developing prostate cancer in protein coding sequences. The purpose of this r...
